Solid, bright white light for still and video

I was looking for a light source that could provide clear white light for photography. I didn’t want a flash (not only do people not like photo flashes, but flash photos often make people look “plasticky”), but a steady, solid, white light. Most studio lights are expensive, but I kept looking…
Despite the odd name, the Neewer light was exactly what I wanted. Not only does it provide a clear, white light (not tinged with green or blue), but it is also adjustable; you can dial it down to a warmer, golden yellow if that suits you. I didn’t really want that as a feature, but it is nice.
![Neewer dimmable bi-color LED camera light. It may claim "bi-color," but it offers a spectrum between pure white and a warm yellow, using a dial on the back.](https://i0.wp.com/www.nishiryu.us/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/neewer-dimmable-bi-color-led.jpg?resize=300%2C300&ssl=1)
The instructions are rather sparse, to the point of being useless. But it is inexpensive, surprisingly bright, easy to use, etc. You will need a stand to mount it on; it has no provisions for standing up by itself.
The unit I purchased comes with an AC adapter and a carrying case. The light can also be operated on battery power using two Sony batteries. These batteries are fairly standard Sony camera batteries, which could be handy if you have a Sony camera.
No complaints; it does exactly what I wanted it to do, and is inexpensive.
