This is the third book in a series about a computer programmer and all-round nerd who gets accidentally inhabited by an alien named Tao. Except, of course, it gets more complicated as time goes on, and by The Rebirths of Tao, the alien has left his original nerd host and moved on to the nerd’s son. Oh, yes: there is also a secret war between the aliens, divided into two camps, and they are using their human hosts to fight a war that, if one side wins, all native life on earth ends.
Chu won the Campbell Award for 2015 for best new writer, and it is well deserved. He does know how to tell a good story.
